Glam Doll Makeup Studio – Makeup Classes

For makeup artists, the human face and body are the canvas. If you have passion for beauty and makeup and possess a creative edge, makeup artist training may be a great fit for you.

Though many schools offer specialized makeup-only programs, makeup artist certification is often paired with skills learned in a comprehensive cosmetology program.

Maybelline vs. Stila Liquid Eyeliner

Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner

stila-stay-all-day-liner

Price: Around $22

This Stila eyeliner is by far one of the brand’s most popular items, and it’s also one of my most re-purchased high-end makeup products. The application of this eyeliner couldn’t be smoother; it effortlessly glides across your skin with zero pulling or smudging, all while leaving behind an incredibly pigmented black line that can easily be built up or kept razor thin, depending on your preferences.

This product really does last all day, and it’s the perfect thing to use when you want to add a bolder touch to transition your look from day to evening (especially since it won’t budge, even during your wildest nights).

And in this corner: Maybelline Eye Studio Master Precise Liquid Eyeliner

maybelline-master-precise-eyeliner

Price: Around $5-7

I was blown away with this product the first time I used it. Out of all the drugstore liquid liners I’ve tried, this Maybelline liner is by far the absolute best one I’ve ever owned. When compared to other similarly-priced liners, the pigmentation and lasting power is unreal, plus the application is really smooth due to the brush design.

Unlike other drugstore liners, which I’ve noticed feature brushes that are more like a fine point marker, the bush on this Maybelline liner is like a paint brush. This means it’s much more flexible, and allows you to create more precise and effortless lines and wings.

The Champion: It’s a tie!

stila-vs-maybelline-liquid-eyeliner

These two eyeliners are honestly so similar that it’s nearly impossible to pick which one is better. I wore each liner on a different eye the other day, and the only difference I noticed between the two was that the Maybelline liner gave me a raccoon eye after I took a shower, while the Stila liner only faded slightly afterwards.

So, if waterproof eyeliner is really a make-or-break quality in your decision, and you’re willing to spend a little extra money on your makeup, then you might want to consider purchasing the Stila liner. However, if you aren’t a mermaid, then the budget-friendly Maybelline liner should work just fine.

How To Get Rid Of Puffy Eyes

Puffy eyes are caused by temporary fluid retention, but this can be easily fixed. While often referred to as the same problem, baggy eyes are a different problem than puffy eyes and require different treatments. Puffy eyes can be caused by allergies, crying, stress or a lack of sleep. A diet that is high in salt or alcohol is also a cause of puffy eyes. By recognizing the causes of puffy eyes, you will not only be able to get rid of them, but prevent the problem as well.

Boil water in a teakettle.

2
Place two chamomile tea bags in a mug and pour the hot water over the tea mugs.

Let the tea bags sit in the water for two minutes so the tea leaves are fully soaked.

4
Remove the tea bags from the water and let cool.

5
Place a tea bag on each eye. The chamomile is soothing and will decrease the puffiness in your eyes.

Prevention
6
Drink at least eight glasses of water a day. While water retention is a cause of puffy eyes, too little water allows sodium to also cause puffy eyes. Balance is important.

7
Limit sodium and alcohol intake. Try using spices and herbs to flavor food instead of salt.

8
Try to get eight hours of sleep a night. Getting too little sleep can be a factor in puffy eyes.

Puffy eyes occur when excess fluid builds up in the soft tissue around the eyes. This fluid retention is referred to as edema. Puffy eyes can cause us to look tired and run-down, even if we aren’t. Many times, we wake up with puffy eyes.

Causes
The causes of puffy eyes are many, and some are quite serious, but the most common reasons include:

• Allergies
• Bacterial Infection
• Salty Diet
• Stye
• Alcohol
• Sinusitis
• Lack of sleep
• Conjunctivitis
• Blepharitis (inflammation of the eyelid)
• Crying
• Makeup
• High sodium intake

The following are serious causes of puffy eyes:

Anaphylaxis – a life-threatening allergic reaction
Orbital cellulitis (infection of soft tissue around the eye)

Remedies For Puffy Eyes
If you are experiencing puffy eyes, try the following remedies

Cut back on salt, as salt causes the body to retain water
Place cold cucumber slices over closed eyes for 10 to 15 minutes
Antihistamines can be helpful for puffy eyes caused by allergies.
Drink plenty of water. When you are dehydrated, your body will store more water and make eye puffiness worse.
Try using an eye cream that contains Vitamin E.
Cut back on alcohol consumption.
A small amount of Preparation H, rubbed underneath the eyes can reduce swelling. Avoid getting this product in your eyes.
Place cool wet teabags over the eyes. The caffeine helps to reduce swelling and puffiness and make eyes appear brighter and more alert.
Try using Robanda Triple Action Eye Gel, a product designed to reduce puffiness and dark circles and bring back elasticity to tired eyes. (Causes for Puffy Eyes: Make the Changes Now to Stop it, 2006)
Soak cotton balls in ice water and apply to eyes.
Put teaspoons in the refrigerator to chill; lay them over your closed eyelids. Chill extra spoons to replace the others when they become warm.
Chilled potato slices placed over closed eyes will help reduce inflammation.
Try using an air purifier if you suspect your eye puffiness is caused by allergies.
Avoid rubbing puffy eyes, as this makes the puffiness worse.
Splash the face with cold water.
Rest your eyes frequently when reading or working on the computer.
If your eye makeup is irritating the eyes and making them puffy, try switching brands to see if the problem resolves. Remember to throw away an eye makeup that’s old.
Get plenty of sleep.
Try propping your head up when you sleep to keep fluid from accumulating underneath the eyes.
Keep your eye cream in the refrigerator. Applying anything cold helps to reduce puffiness.

Conclusion
If your eye puffiness is accompanied by more serious symptoms, such as pain, bleeding or blurred vision, is due to an allergic reaction, or if you suspect you may have conjunctivitis or a bacterial infection, consult your physician for advice. Otherwise, you can get rid of puffy eyes with a few of these simple home treatments.

Foundation Brushes

When you are looking for the best of the best it takes time and money to find the perfect brush just for you. This post is a roundup of what I consider to be the best or most interesting foundation brushes available to us, I will show you a few pictures, share my own experience with them and also some guidelines in order to help you find the perfect foundation brush just for you.

Foundation application is probably the most complex step of a makeup application, probably the most feared too ! If we go for it, better get it right, we cannot just simply copy someone else’s make up routine, we have to find our very own and as we go along feel what’s right or wrong and fine tune the process. You won’t necessarily need brushes for that, not all the foundations are meant to be applied with them like the Armani Fusion for example. But that’s another story. Don’t please don’t do this at home, you don’t need a hundred brushes to do your foundation, it is just a passion of mine to collect beautiful makeup brushes.

Some foundation brushes are more efficient than others but at the end it will be a matter of following your own preferences and taste. I will show you some of mine which include :

  • Stippling brushes
  • Mineral foundation brushes
  • Flat, semi-flat, round brushes

foundationbrushes

My life does not depend on foundation application but I do love it, I think there is an intriguing and experimental process behind achieving a great application of foundation, it can be fun and it can sometimes be depressing ! My curiosity and my delicate dry skin motivated me to research for the best foundation brushes and the best way to apply it. You’ll see that it got a bit out of control (again), but I hope that at least my lack of control will benefit you, help you compare the options and guide you in your own research.

There aren’t that many foundation lovers around me, when I ask them why they hate foundation they say: “I don’t want to feel it” or “I don’t want to see it” or “foundation brushes are too rough”.

I am not saying that it’s necessary to go through this step, absolutely not, but if the reason why you don’t apply it is just because of those reasons be aware that today you can apply foundation and still look natural and fresh and for the tools, don’t worry, there is probably the right one just for you.

I don’t often use mineral foundation and I don’t often go for more than medium coverage. My needs are those of a woman in her 40′s with extreme dry and sensitive skin who aims for a fresh glowy complexion. Depending on the days I can barely stand to apply make up at all so I need the most efficient tools : the best results possible, in the fewer strokes !

I have tried to pick different types of foundation brushes to guide you in your selection, each one with its own qualities and characteristics, they can really differ in shape, material and it will be up to you to find the one that fits your personal requirements. I don’t have an answer for every situation, if I did, I would not be working in IT !!! Believe me, I wouldn’t.

They can be made of natural bristles, a mix of synthetic and natural hair or only synthetic bristles, so many options are available today and many of them are very good. Do not consider my opinions as expert advice, I will simply share what I think about them and why I love them… or not.

If You Are Starting

First you want to identify what your profile is (oily, dry, sensitive skin), then what coverage and finish you desire. If you already found a foundation product that is matching what your skin needs, now you can start looking for the right tools. You may think that brushes are very expensive and that the investment may not be worth it, I don’t know about you but I wasted a lot of money on foundation products that didn’t work for me just because I didn’t have the appropriate tools to apply them. I am not saying that brushes will solve all your problems but they definitely will make your life easier, the application more pleasant and they may even save you money in the end.

Targeting A Brush Adapted To Your Profile

Many brush companies will not recommend you goat brushes if your skin is dry and sensitive, they will direct you towards synthetic or stippling brushes. They are right but I still found many full goat brushes that are soft enough for me to use on my very dry skin and I have absolute no problem at all. Basically if your skin is sensitive, it shouldn’t be moving around when applying foundation with your brush, it should not feel “molested”, on the other hand using a too soft brush will require many more strokes to blend and you may want to avoid that too since it may also irritate your skin at the end. The right balance would be a brush that is soft enough but still has efficient blending power. I have got some here.

Below, a synthetic brush vs a goat brush, if you want my honest opinion, this synthetic fun brush looks great and has thickness to it, which should be a good thing. It’s not a terrible brush but these two are a world apart.

  • This synthetic brush MUFE 108 has interesting fibers, at first they look nice, feel nice, but after you used it once, you don’t want to use it again without washing it before. Reminds me of a dirty kitchen cloth (sorry), absorbing quite a lot of product and getting some sorf of film around the bristles that you don’t necessarily like against your skin. I also find it does move my skin around too much (the bristles have a grip), in normal conditions it’s acceptable but I am prone to migranes and even if I don’t put too much pressure on it, despite the fact the bristles are very soft and don’t poke it still is unpleasant on my sensitive skin.
  • The goat brush here is the new Chikuhodo GSN-05, at first it does not look attractive, it’s not white hair, looks a bit yellow-coppery, not the most attractive aspect for some but don’t be afraid of that, this brush is amazing in all aspects, what I want to point out is that this goat brush despite it has darker goat hair, it’is much more pleasant to use than the synthetic for me, more efficient, does not suck product in the bristles and does not feel like a dirty cloth on my face at all, even if I don’t wash it every day, still the same blending power. It does not molest my skin, I don’t need to put a lot of pressure to blend and it doesn’t poke.
  • syntheticgoat
  • Bottom line : Natural or synthetic it will depend on the brush, again it’s a matter of preference and also skin tolerance, some cannot use natural hair at all and some cannot use synthetic.

    Targeting Liquid Or Powder Foundation

If you have very dry skin you are less likely to use powder foundation and less likely to go for heavy coverage, in most situtations it will end patchy and not comfortable. Even with the right tools it’s difficult to go against these laws. When I apply a heavy coat of mineral powder foundation on my very dry skin, despite the quality of the powder foundation and the perfect brush, after just a little time my skin starts to beg for help, my wrinkles are maximized and dry patches appear all over, it ages me dramatically. Nice brushes will help but just to a certain point.  Choosing the right skincare and foundation product for your skin profile is even more important, then you can try some foundations at the counters see how they evolve on your skin throughout the day until you find the perfect one for you.

    Targeting The Coverage You Desire

The foundation product you’ll use will really help deliver the coverage and finish you are looking for. In terms of brushes, the denser and flatter the brush, the more coverage it delivers. The fluffier and rounder the brush, the more flexibility you’ll get allowing you to start from sheer and to build up to medium.

Permanent Makeup Procedures

Permanent cosmetic makeup procedures, also referred to as cosmetic tattooing or medical tattooing, can make a whale of a difference to the way recovered cancer patients feel about themselves. Coronation Street actress Sally Whitaker recently disclosed to Hello! Magazine how shocked she was at the way chemotherapy changed her looks. She said: “It really undermined my self-confidence. So having the eyebrow procedure really made a big difference to how I was feeling – it gave my psychological well being a real boost.” Sally approached Karen Bett, a medical tattooing expert, to get her eyebrows permanently done. She admits that she is now “addicted” to cosmetic makeup procedures and wants to have permanent eyeliner too.

However, not all women seeking cosmetic tattooing are recovering cancer patients; their goals vary from getting fuller lips to wanting to get rid of unsightly scars. Springfield-based Kim Housley, proprietor of ColorDerm cosmetic clinic, says that permanent cosmetic makeup can be as dramatic or soft as temporary makeup. Housley, who possesses an Illinois Department of Public Health license and a Society of Permanent Cosmetic Professional certificate, says that each cosmetic makeup procedure is preceded by a consultation, during which the cosmetic surgeon tries to pinpoint the client’s goals. She says that this is essential not only to help the client achieve her goals, but also because permanent cosmetic makeup should look good on its own, without requiring the assistance of temporary makeup. For instance, if the temporary makeup comes off for some reasons, the permanent makeup should continue to look great.

Cosmetic makeup procedures are immensely popular among women of all age groupsa€”from 20 to 85. According to Housely, 60 percent of her clients want eyebrow procedures. The others want to correct or hide flaws, get a feature they do not have, or want to remove scars.

According to Housely, 60 percent of her clients want eyebrow procedures. The others want to correct or hide flaws, get a feature they do not have, or want to remove scars.

One of Houseley’s clients Kolleen Mendenhall says that she was never satisfied with her light eyebrows, which became lighter and lighter as she aged. She decided to try permanent cosmetic makeup and was amazed with the results. Mendenhall, who has renewed the treatment twice, says: “It didn’t hurt or I wouldn’t go back no matter how good it looked. It’s just made such a difference in the way I look and fee.”

Clients also turn to permanent cosmetic makeup to hide their scars with natural skin colours. Cancer-recovered patients also seek cosmetic tattooing to recreate lost nipples or get permanent eyeliners to make up for lost eyelashes. Cosmetic tattooing transforms women in a big way.

Cosmetic makeup procedures are painless and do not take long. For instance, medical tattooing experts can do lower-lid eyeliner in 45 minutes and full face makeup procedures, which include lip colour, lip liner, eyeliner and eyebrows, in two hours. The prices depend on what the patient wants and can be anywhere between 0 and 0. The longevity of the treatment depends on a wide range of factors and many clients will have to return to get their cosmetic makeup procedure renewed.

QUESTION: fuller lips naturally- what to do or wear? So I have slightly full lips but I want them a bit bigger…  How can I do that WITHOUT surgery?  Any really good lip glosses out there that are at least semi-permanent?  I don’t want to be wearing gobs of gloss all the time as that just isn’t my style, haha.

ANSWER:Make Your Lips Look Bigger You can have the full, kissable lips you’ve always wanted. It’s as easy as putting on your makeup. In fact it’s all about makeup. A few tricks of gloss and pencil, and walla !!! that plump, pouty look is all yours.

Gather together some light reflecting concealer, a lip pencil, clear lip gloss and sparkle lip gloss.

Begin by applying the light reflecting concealor around the outside of your lip line. Blend it in with your finger. Reflecting the light will create shading, making your lips look bigger.

Next use your lip pencil to line your lips. Since you have already applied the concealer you can go just outside your lip line with the pencil. Use the pencil to fill in your lips, creating a solid base.

Use a lip brush to apply clear lip gloss. If you prefer colored gloss or even lipstick that’s fine too.

Finally dab some of the sparkle gloss on the center of your bottom lip. This focuses the light giving the appearance of fullness. You can dab a bit of the sparkle just above the center of your top lip in the “cupids bow” too.

TIP – Plump your lips naturally with cinnamon leaf oil. Commercial plumpers are expensive and unnecessary. Most topical plumpers are mild irritants that work by causing the lips to swell slightly. You can get the same effect from cinnamon leaf oil. Apply a small amount to the corner of your lip first as it may sting. Once you’re sure the sting isn’t too much for you go ahead and apply the oil lightly to both lips.

Foundation Tricks Makeup Artists Use to Make Pores Look Smaller

Large pores are such a bummer. Since pore size is mainly controlled by things like genetics and age, the bad news is that if yours are not so petite, you’ll have to live with it. The good news is that there are lots of skin care products you can use to help minimize the appearance of them. As for makeup, with the right products and a little professional-makeup-artist know-how, you can make your pores look pretty much nonexistent.

Get primed. “To conceal larger pores, it’s important to start with a good primer; that way the makeup won’t accentuate pores. I love Neutrogena Shine Control Primer. It’s weightless and doesn’t feel greasy.” —Daniel Chinchilla, who works with Ariana Grande and Keke Palmer

Even out your skin tone. “Foundation normally exaggerates pores. The best thing to do is even out the skin tone with M.A.C. Studio Face and Body Foundation. If skin is evened out, the pores will blend in better.” —Niki M’nray, who works with Rihanna and Gigi Hadid

Try the Surratt Beauty Surreal Real Skin Foundation Wand. “I have large pores, and I’ve been using this on myself. The finish is gently matte, almost ‘mattine,’ and it really diminishes the look of my pores. Without looking heavy, it evens out the skin, and the wand brush beautifully buffs the product out to near invisibility.” —Fiona Stiles, who works with Gabrielle Union and Chrissy Teigen

Opt for a compact foundation, like Chanel Vitalumière Aqua Fresh and Hydrating Cream Compact. “Using a compact allows for pinpoint coverage in areas where pores are larger. This foundation is light and filled with moisture, making your skin look fresh and your pores lightly concealed, avoiding any clumping of product.” —Robert Greene, who works with Tinashe and Samira Wiley

Or Koh Gen Do Aqua Foundation. “It delivers sheer to medium dewy coverage that looks like your skin. Minerals are cut in supersmall particles to reflect light off of the pores.” —Azra Red, who works with Zola Jesus and Sita Abellan

Apply your foundation the right way. “To fill in the pores and blend them, apply the foundation using a synthetic brush in a crosshatching motion. Finish with a soft-focus powder, like the Koh Gen Doh Maifanshi Face Powder to set and bounce the light in the most believable and flattering way.” —Suzy Gerstein, who works with Camilla Belle and Christy Turlington Burns

Try Estée Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Makeup. “This foundation has incredible coverage. It’s a bit heavy, so if you want more sheer coverage, it’s fine to sheer it out with your favorite moisturizer.” —Sarah Tanno, who works with Lady Gaga and Suki Waterhouse

Make sure you have the right tools. “For larger pores, it’s more about the tools than the product. I say Beautyblender all the way. Also, using a stippling brush with your foundation will soften and conceal large pores.” —Edward Cruz, who works with Priyanka Chopra and Kat Graham
