Benefit Cosmetics Brow Kit

Eyebrows are still one of the hottest trends and probably will be for a while. People are crazy for defined and clean looking brows! There are many different techniques for getting your brows exactly how you want them and will probably take a little bit of practice before you perfect them to your liking.  But don’t lose hope because once you perfect them your face will be transformed! There are many different brow products; pencils, pomades, powders, etc. I’m excited about the new Benefit brow line that allows you to achieve the perfect brow. The Benefit Ka-Brow is a pomade that is packaged with its own little angle brush. This product is used to define the edges of your brows to get the desired shape with a clean crisp line. You can use this with virtually any brow type to clean up the face and make your brows really stand out! To fill any gaps in the brow I like using pencils. A pencil gives you the control to make hair-like movements for a natural looking brow. The Benefit Goof Proof Brow pencil is a double-sided pencil with a spooley on the other end, which makes the process of filling and blending the brow a little faster! To finish off the brow I use a setting gel to lock in all of the hairs that might want to move through out the day. Benefit’s Gimmie Brow is a tinted gel that not only locks the brows into place but also gives them a little extra color (it can be used to lighten or darken your brows depending on the shade).  With these 4 products your brows are on their way to being perfect!

How To Get Rid Of Blackheads

Blackheads are just pimples that don’t have skin over them. Because there is no skin, they’re open to the air and the top layer of gunk oxidizes and turns them to the darkish black color. There are many ways to get rid of them.[1] This article provides instructions for a number of different methods that you can try.

Trick

1
Acquire some simple, non toxic glue. You can use the type you would have used for elementary school art projects, such as P.V.A glue or Elmers glue.

2
Steam your face over a sink or a bowl or with a wet face cloth. This is optional, but can be very beneficial. Try to get the steam as hot as possible, but make sure it is comfortable for you!
3
Apply glue to troubled areas. Then, leave it alone until it is completely dry.

Peel it off. Peel the glue off and see results on the dry glue.
Squeezing Them

1
Warm your skin. Warming your skin makes the pores expand, making it easier to squeeze out the blackhead. You can do this by taking a warm shower or applying a hot compress to the affected areas.

2
Grab a pinch of skin with one or a few closely-spaced blackheads in the middle and squeeze. You’re trying to apply the pressure from underneath the blackhead. This method works best if the blackheads are not tightly or deeply embedded, and if your skin isn’t easily bruised or damaged by stretching.

You can also use an extractor tool or bobby pin to force it out. Be careful with these methods, and if you experience serious pain, try something else.

Cotton ball Cure

1
Use a mild exfoliant to remove cells and expose.

2
Pat your face dry with a clean, fresh towel.

3
Place a slightly warm compress on your face for approximately 10-15 minutes in order to soften the blackhead, making it easier to remove.

4
Pat your face again.

5
Place a cotton-ball on the tip of each finger. This will help you to avoid slipping, which could tear the skin and cause further damage.

6
Gently apply even pressure to both sides of the blackhead by pushing down, then up around the blemish.

Toothbrush And Toothpaste

1
Apply an inch-sized amount of toothpaste on the toothbrush.
2
Wet the toothbrush and wet the affected area.
3
Gently with your toothbrush, scrub the affected area for a small amount of time.

Make sure you do not apply too close to the eyes, as the vapours from methanol toothpastes can irritate the eyes.

If you have nose blackheads, apply an even smaller amount of toothpaste, and keep well clear from eyes.

This method has also been known to work on spots, but is not guaranteed.

Always sterilize the toothbrush with boiling-hot water after using this method.

4
Repeat daily until the affected areas are clear.

AHAs (Extra)

1
Purchase a cream containing an AHA (alpha hydroxy acids).

2
Apply a small amount of cream to the affected areas. This will clear away any dead skin cells and “expose” the blackhead.

3
Repeat about every 4 days. These products can cause skin irritation, dryness, and flaking. Discontinue use if the irritation becomes severe.

AHAs are also known to increase sensitivity to the sun, so be careful if you are going out in bright sunlight after using this treatment.

Lime Juice

1
Make a lotion with equal parts of lime juice, almond oil and glycerin.

2
Apply your lotion to your face. It will not only cure blackheads but the discoloring spots on the face too.

Honey Trick

1
Warm a small amount of honey.

2
Apply on the trouble area.

3
Wash off after 10-15 minutes.

Foundation For Oily Skin

Causes of Oily Skin

  • Oily skin may be caused by a variety of factors including hormones, genetics and even the foods you consume. The sebaceous glands in your skin make the oil, which is secreted through your pores. An overproduction of the oils that are made in these glands can cause oily skin.
  • Foundation Types for Oily Skin

    • For those with oily skin, you are not without options when it comes to foundation makeup. Powder-type foundation, whether it is loose or pressed, is one of your best bets when it comes to a foundation makeup that will not only last all day, but soak up excess shine as well.

    Powder Foundation

    • A powder foundation makeup comes in both loose and pressed powder forms and can be applied with a loose powder brush, kabuki brush, makeup sponge or powder puff. A powder foundation helps to soak up excess oil and keep your face looking matte throughout the day. Keep in mind that the applicator you use to apply your powder foundation can harbor excess oil and bacteria, so make sure to clean or replace your powder applicator regularly to keep from spreading oil and bacteria back onto your skin.

    Mineral Makeup Foundation

    • For those wanting a natural oily skin foundation makeup alternative, a mineral makeup product would be the right fit for you. Mineral makeup foundation is also a good choice for those with sensitive skin because it doesn’t have the harsh chemicals and ingredients that are often found in typical powder-type makeup.

Tinted Moisturizer With an SPF as a Foundation

    • If you feel that layering your moisturizer, sunscreen and makeup leaves your skin oilier than it was before, then a tinted moisturizer may be another option for you. Combining a moisturizer, sunscreen and light color in one product, a tinted moisturizer with SPF can replace all three of these products for you. Try a tinted moisturizer with SPF in lieu of a foundation and then dust a loose powder on your T-zone for an added mattifying effect.

If you have oily skin, you know that finding a foundation for your skin type is tough. A liquid or cream foundation makeup may just slide off. Fortunately, there are foundation makeup options for those with oily skin.

How To Blend Eye Shadow

Mastering well blended eye shadow seems to be up there with mastering liquid liner for many of you, well those who contact me through social media at least. To get a nice blend does require a little practice as well as a few techniques, and very importantly, the right brushes!

*I would first advise doing your eye makeup before your foundation, this will allow for any fall out from blending eye shadows to be cleaned away easily without you having to re-do your base!

*Next, remember that powder eye shadows will blend much easier over a smooth, dry base. This is achieved by applying a powder base to the lids before applying the colour shadow.
Translucent face powder or a nude coloured eye shadow will work best.
If you want to apply a cream eye shadow or tacky base of some sort first, for the shadow to adhere to (to make it more vibrant or intense), then just apply your base powder down from the brow to where the cream base ends. This will allow you to still have a smooth blend above your crease line.

*Spend as long as you need when blending the eye shadow. Adding a little shadow at a time and blending as you go will make life much easier on yourself. And so as to not compromise the colour intensity of your shadow, only blend around the edges of the shadow shape that you are trying to achieve!

*Having a blending or crease brush is extremely important when working on a seamless blend. A dense & fluffy, dome shaped brush will work best for this. Check out my video & post on my favorite blending brushes HERE
One more thing to remember when it comes to brushes, it that natural haired bristles will blend powder products much better than synthetic fiber brushes.

*The best example of a perfect blended eye shadow is the “Smokey Eye”. Most people seem to think that this means a black or gray coloured eye but it just means any eye shadow colour that is applied to the lids and blended out to almost nothing, as if faded into your skin.

Anyhow, out with your brushes, whatever colours you like, and remember to BLEND, BLEND, and BLEND!!

Lengthening & Thickening With the Right Mascara

Are you in need of mascara and eyelash enhancement tips but are not quite ready to apply the fake eyelashes? Don’t worry, you are not alone! Day and day out, women who have in the past been curling their lashes, looking for the ideal lengthening products, and were not adverse to trying the supposedly organic and hypoallergenic mascara products dictated by cosmetic lore, are finally at a point where they are ready to leave behind the products that did little more than cake onto their eyelashes and –since being waterproof – took a long time to safely remove.

Intensifying their search for the best mascara in an effort to maximize the beauty of their eyelashes, these women have found a number of surprising beauty tips that will help you, too, to plump up your eyelashes using mascara with ingredients that will ensure thickening and sculpting without the clumpy mess.

A Little Extra Glam

Try something new for that special night out—false  eyelashes.  False eyelashes were once  only reserved for the most glamorous women, like movie stars and super models,  now you can easily apply some false eyelashes for a fancy night out on the  town, or any time that you’d like a more glamorous, sexy look.  This is no longer a secret for makeup  artists, today’s false eyelashes are easily applied with a thin strip of adhesive,  and the simple, safe removal process leaves your natural lashes unharmed.  While you’re wearing them, you’ll have the  flirtiest eyelashes that are fun to bat all might.  You’ll be ready for the red carpet!  Forget about trying to use traditional clumpy  mascaras that can smudge and smear after a long night, false eyelashes look as  fresh at the end of the night as they did when you first applied them.

Ideal Mascara Products Won’t Cake or Clump

Begin your eyelash routine by using natural tools for conditioning them. Vaseline and even olive oil applied in moderate amounts are known to increase the health of individual eyelashes and thus prime the canvas for the application of mascaras like Max Factor, Kiss Me, La Femme, Maybelline and of course L’Oreal. Using bargain basement or no-name mascara is discouraged since it often contains fillers that are all but guaranteed to clump on your lashes at the first opportunity.

Damaged Lashes Need a Little Extra Care

If your eyelashes have suffered and you might have some bald patches on your lids, dispense with the use of mascara – even double wear products – and instead add an eyelash growth product to your beauty routine. After about six to eight weeks of consistent application, you will be rewarded with natural, longer lashes.

Lashes Should Be Curled Before Mascara Application

To avoid that ugly cake or clump of mascara, be sure to curl your eyelashes prior to applying the cosmetic. In addition to the foregoing, place a very light dusting of powder on your eyelashes for the mascara to properly adhere to and not slide off, forming odd clumps on the tips of your lashes. Putting on mascara – even the brushless variety – is a bit of an art and you may have to experiment with different techniques to find one that works best for getting that thick, healthy and voluptuous look you are aiming for.

Best Way to Apply Mascara to Eyelashes

The current wisdom suggests applying mascara by holding the brush still, but blinking your eye lashes over it.  Allowing the lashes to pick up their own coating. You should apply a second coat of mascara only to the top lashes for a long lasting, voluminous look. Have a mineral oil based eye makeup remover on standby to correct any mistakes without having to take off all the mascara. As a final thought, whenever possible, please purchase cruelty free products that will allow you to use products without the stain of unnecessary animal testing attached.
